With 29 years of experience in physical therapy, Carol Pietromonaco Murfin opened Back to You Physical Therapy in 2011. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, in 1996. She received her Masters in Business Administration, from Babson College, in 2005.
She speaks English, French, Italian and some Spanish. Carol has taken many post-graduate courses, most recently in spinal manual therapy, lower extremity orthopedic injuries and shoulder injuries. She actively practices Pilates and is a certified Pilates teacher.
In addition to Carol’s expertise in general orthopedics and sports injuries, she is a back care spinal specialist. Various studies have proven Yoga and Pilates to be highly effective in the treatment of low back pain. Carol incorporates Yoga and Pilates’ core strengthening exercise principals with Physical Therapy’s manual techniques and deep tissue massage to effectively treat your spine. She analyzes your functional movement to determine the source of your orthopedic pain. She is a patient advocate. She coordinates your care with your physician and other healthcare providers.

Dr. Courtney Brown has 11 years of experience as a physical therapist. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2013 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology in 2009 from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. She specializes in movement patterns and exercise to correct dysfunction. She has several certifications: Dry needling, FMS (functional movement screen), SFMA (selective functional movement assessment), and cupping. A marathoner herself, she is skilled at helping runners identify areas of weakness or poor flexibility, and gait abnormalities to aid in return to sport for many of her athletic patients. She is a foot specialist and enjoys working with foot/ankle dysfunctions.
When not treating patients or running, she enjoys spending time with her 3 doberman pinchers.

After growing up in the Philadelphia area, Susan Koeller attended Ithaca College in New York, playing on the field hockey team and earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1990. She has over 30 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy in the Boston area. In addition to her experience and continuing education in general orthopedics, Sue earned her certification in hand therapy (CHT) in 1997 and certification in orthopedic manual therapy in 2020. Hand therapy certification recognizes advanced clinical skills in upper limb rehabilitation, with Sue's particular expertise being in shoulder, wrist, elbow, and non-tendon repair hand dysfunctions. Along with continuing education related to her CHT, in recent years her continuing education has also focused on manual therapy, with particular specialization on the spine, SI joint, hips, and shoulders.
Particular areas of expertise: shoulder, spine (neck, thoracic, lumbar and SI dysfunction,) and wrist.
Area of interest: working together with patients utilizing manual therapy, exercise, and education to help them achieve their goals.

After five years of professionally coaching equestrians and almost two years as a certified MagnaWave (PEMF) professional for horses, Emma is excited to be transferring her knowledge of and passion for proper biomechanics to a career in physical therapy. She graduated Washington University in St. Louis in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in International and Area Studies as well as minors in Global Health and Children’s Studies. Inspired by a personal experience with a vestibular physical therapist and by her desire to help people achieve their personal goals (in and out of the saddle), she now intends to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. She is excited to be joining the Back to You PT community as a part-time front desk, office manager / rehabilitation aide!

Growing up Lana played Volleyball and Lacrosse in High School. While at UMASS Amherst, she specialized in working with geriatric and pediatrics populations as well as persons with disabilities.
Lana is looking forward to gaining more experience as the new summer Rehabilitation Aide/ Front Desk Specialist at Back to You PT, and is excited to be joining the team.
